Wyandotte detroit river accident

About people gathered at a suburban Detroit church this morning to pay their last respects to the four DeLisle children: Brian, 8; Melissa, 4; Kadie, 2; and Emily, 10 months. Their father, Lawrence DeLisle, a year-old tire store manager, was ordered held without bond Friday on four counts of first-degree murder and one of attempted murder.

The Rev. Walter Ptak, assistant pastor at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church in Taylor, told mourners that losing the children was painful for the community as well as the family. The suspect first said a leg cramp caused him to jam the accelerator pedal, powering the car through a barricade and into the river.

But on Thursday, he admitted the crash was deliberate, said Detective Sgt. When the case went to trial the following June, Wayne county Prosecutor Kevin Simowski argued that DeLisle was a troubled man, drowning in debt, feeling burdened by life and by his wife and kids. Simowski argued that DeLisle deliberately planned the crash and fully intended to die along with the rest of his family that August night. The trial judge Robert Colombo Jr. The trial lasted 8 days in downtown Detroit with more than two dozen witnesses called to testify.

Numerous appeals were filed. The case went all the way to the U. Supreme Court, which refused to hear it. She doesn't want to see anybody, which is understandable. The Rev. Wally Ptak, who will conduct the memorial service for the children at St. Our prayers are with the family.

The DeLisle children -- Emily, 10 months; Katherine, 18 months; Melissa, 4; and Brian, 8 -- were pronounced dead at hospitals in Wyandotte and Detroit a few hours after being pulled from the wreckage.
