Western washington wind storm




















Like Bower noted, those rainy and windy conditions are expected to persist through the weekend across the region. A much stronger system will be making its approach late Saturday night.

A high wind warning has been issued for portions of the Coast and Northern Interior, set to begin Sunday morning, while a wind advisory has been issued for some locations in the Puget Sound and Cascade foothills. That could extend into Monday, possibly through Monday night. With the gusty conditions expected for much of the region the next 2 days, now is the time to prepare! Temperatures were record warm on Thursday.

At the National Weather Service in Seattle at Sandpoint , the record high for today was tied at 69 degrees, a record.

Bellingham also got up to 69 degrees, breaking a record of 68 degrees set in Trees across the Eastside were no match for the fierce winds. Tree limbs, fallen leaves and other debris came down from Sammamish to Issaquah to Mercer Island. The windiest weather is at the coast and from around Everett and north and will remain so all day.

Gusts for those areas could be in the 40 to 50 mph range, compared to south of there, where gusts will be in the 30 to 40 mph range. The large and powerful area of low pressure offshore is slowly moving to Vancouver Island and will arrive there later Monday, mainly at the coast.

The entire area will be windy Monday around 15 to 30 mph with gusts approaching 30 to 40 mph. However, the strongest wind will be at the coast and around Everett and north.

Look for another round of rainy and breezy weather on Tuesday, but it will not be as active as Sunday and Monday. We should see some pockets of showers on Wednesday, but the next round of steady and heavier rain will hold off until late into Thursday.
